The surprise is that they were right
It’s not so much that the gub’ment wasn’t told about the potential danger…. it’s more that those so-called “scientists” are just sooo damn wrong about so many things…. evolution, when life begins, the value of stem cells, gravity…. that it’s hard to take them seriously.
Sure, they thought that this might happen….. but they did not have the lack of proof required to be able to predict these acts of their most benevelent and loving and caring and merciful Gawd. The preachers couldn’t confirm those silly scientists’ belief, so obviously they were wrong. Who could predict they’d be right?
It must just be that New Orleans and surrounds offended Gawd, and so he, in his allmighty mercy, smote them hard.
